Keynote Talk – A New Dawn: The Opportunity & Challenge of Reaching Gen Z and α
Gen Z, aged 13–30, have never known a world without a smartphone in their hands. They are more connected than any generation before them—yet also more lonely. They swim in an ocean of information—yet remain thirsty for meaning. Some call them “the anxious generation.” But that misses the bigger picture: Gen Z are passionate, determined, and restless for lasting change. And here’s what should excite the church: recent research shows they are surprisingly open spiritually: 40% of 18–24 year olds say they pray at least monthly, 37% want to know the Bible better, and 34% of non-churchgoers would attend if invited. Gen Z (and Generation Alpha rising behind them) represent one of the greatest mission opportunities of our time. The question is not whether they are open—it’s whether we are ready. Ready to reach them, disciple them, stand with them and train the next generation of leaders to guide them in faith for years to come.
